Sana’a forces continue to expertly intercept U.S. MQ-9 drones, showcasing a unique military specialization unmatched by any other country in the region, marking a significant presence in the field of air defense.
The military spokesman for Sana’a forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, announced on Saturday that the air defenses succeeded in shooting down an American MQ-9 drone while it was carrying out “hostile missions” over Sana’a province.
In an official statement, Saree said the drone was brought down using a locally-made surface-to-air missile, noting that this is the second aircraft shot down within 24 hours and the sixth since the beginning of April, bringing the total number of drones downed in what he called the “Battle of the Promised Victory and Holy Jihad” to 21 aircraft.
The statement affirmed that the ongoing airstrikes and targeting of civilians and infrastructure in Yemen would not break the will of the Yemeni people, reiterating Sana’a’s support for the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and vowing to continue “supportive” military operations until the aggression against Gaza stops and the blockade is lifted.
Saree concluded his statement by reaffirming that Sana’a will continue to confront American aggression, emphasizing that Yemen will remain free and independent.
