The Israeli economic website “Calcalist” has revealed the extent of losses incurred by the occupied port of Eilat due to attacks carried out by forces of the Sanaa government on Israeli ships or those heading to Israel, preventing their passage through the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea.

The website quoted the manager of the Eilat port as saying, “Since the end of November 2023 until today, the port has only received two or three ships.”

He added, “The port is losing between 6 and 10 million shekels per month due to the prevention of Israeli ships and those associated with Israel from crossing the Red Sea by the Houthis.”

He emphasized that “there is no activity in the port, and he received compensation for November and December that does not even cover the salaries of the employees.”

Since mid-October last year, forces of the Sanaa government have begun carrying out military operations against “Israel,” preventing Israeli ships or those associated with Israel from crossing the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea. They stipulate that their operations will cease only if “the aggression on Gaza is stopped and the blockade is lifted,” as stated in the military statements announced by the spokesman for the forces of the Sanaa government, Yahya Saree, following the execution of any military operation.
