NYN | News

A meeting between Mikhail Bogdanov, the Russian President’s special envoy to the Middle East and Africa, and the head of the Sana’a Government delegation, Mohammed Abdulsalam, indicated a potential Russian intervention to stop the war in Yemen and reduce escalation in the Red Sea.

In a post on his “X” account today, Tuesday, Abdulsalam stated that the meeting discussed: “the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza, the necessity to stop the aggression on Palestine, and the American-British aggression on Yemen.”

He added that “the Red Sea operations were also discussed, clarifying that they do not represent a threat to international navigation or target anyone, but are in support of the Palestinian people and in response to the American-British airstrikes on Yemen. We emphasized the importance of the Russian role in understanding Yemen’s position in supporting Palestine.”

He continued: “We expressed our gratitude for the Russian stance against the American-British aggression and their support for the humanitarian and political process in our country. We also reviewed the outcomes of the de-escalation situation between Yemen and the aggressor countries, stressing the need for a comprehensive solution that ensures Yemen’s unity and sovereignty.”
