Footage has surfaced showing the moment the British oil tanker Cordelia Moon was targeted by a Yemeni drone boat in the Red Sea, after the armed security team on board failed to stop the attack.

The clips, published by Western media outlets and shared by activists on social media, reveal the armed security team on the Cordelia Moon attempting to fend off the drone boat launched by the Sana’a government forces.

Despite the heavy gunfire aimed at disabling the drone, it managed to reach the tanker and hit it directly, with a loud explosion heard at the moment of impact.

The Sana’a government forces announced on Tuesday that they had carried out three naval operations targeting two ships, one of which was the British oil tanker, while the other had violated the ban on entering Palestinian ports.

In a televised statement, Brigadier General Yahya Saree stated that “the naval forces, missile force, and drone force executed three military operations. The first operation targeted the British oil tanker Cordelia Moon in the Red Sea with eight ballistic and cruise missiles, a drone, and a drone boat, resulting in significant damage to the ship.”

He added, “The second operation targeted the Marathopolis ship in the Indian Ocean with a cruise missile, while the third operation targeted a ship again for violating the ban while it was sailing in the Yemeni Armed Forces’ area of operations in the Arabian Sea, northeast of the Socotra Archipelago, and it was struck by a drone.”

Saree emphasized that “the Yemeni Armed Forces will continue their military operations and maintain the naval blockade on the Israeli enemy. These operations will not cease until the aggression on Gaza is halted, the blockade is lifted, and the aggression on Lebanon ends.”
