NYN | News

Dozens of residents in the city of Taiz staged a protest today in front of the local authority’s headquarters, demanding the arrest of soldier Walid Kamel, who is accused of killing Haj Saif Al-Sharabi, the father of journalist Ghadeer Al-Sharabi.

The protesters held banners calling for justice and retribution for the victim, stressing the importance of prosecuting the killer and preventing him from escaping punishment.

They accused several military leaders of shielding and protecting the accused soldier, sparking widespread outrage among the city’s residents.

The protesters highlighted the gravity of the crime, which was committed in front of the victim and his daughter, journalist Ghadeer Al-Sharabi, in a scene that deeply saddened and angered the local community.

The increasing lawlessness in the city has raised concerns among citizens already struggling with hunger and fear amidst the deteriorating economic conditions in areas under the internationally recognized Yemeni government.

The protesters condemned the local authority’s inaction, accusing it of merely watching events unfold without taking decisive measures, further exacerbating the crisis.

Public anger in Taiz has reached its peak, with urgent calls for immediate action to curb the security breakdown and deliver justice in the case of Haj Saif Al-Sharabi, who has become a symbol of the city’s suffering.
