The Plan of the Century: U.S. Troops Deploy in Eastern Yemen with Saudi Approval

NYN | News

Details of an “American-Saudi plan” have surfaced, being crafted behind closed doors in Yemen’s Al-Mahra governorate (eastern Yemen), where recent U.S. military movements at Al-Ghaydah International Airport indicate the beginning of a new phase of foreign expansion in the region.

Yemeni expert Ali Al-Nasi revealed that U.S. officers and soldiers have arrived at Al-Ghaydah International Airport in Al-Mahra, in coordination with Saudi ground forces, as part of alleged training operations carried out by the “National Shield” forces of the internationally recognized government.

In his post, Al-Nasi confirmed that the “training pretext” is nothing more than a cover for advancing an American military expansion agenda in southern Yemen, saying: “This is what I predicted months ago… the U.S. will not settle for sending troops to Yemen under the guise of training.”

The U.S. has been accused of attempting to establish military outposts in Al-Mahra for years, under the pretext of “countering terrorist threats.” This American desire aligns with Saudi interests, which seek to dominate Al-Mahra.

Observers have warned that the plan could ignite confrontations with Yemeni factions opposed to foreign presence, while U.S. and Saudi entities continue to portray the movements as “support to counter security threats.” However, the reality suggests that Al-Ghaydah could become a military stronghold controlling global trade routes, potentially redrawing the map of influence in a region that has long been coveted by major powers.
