Mass Closure with No End Date… Is the Threat Coming from the East?

NYN | News

In the past few hours, Israel has announced the closure of all its diplomatic missions abroad and urged its citizens to remain vigilant and avoid displaying any Jewish or Israeli symbols in public, following its large-scale strikes against Iran.

In a statement issued by the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was confirmed that Israeli missions around the world will be closed until further notice, and no consular services will be provided during this period.

The ministry also called on Israelis abroad to cooperate with local security services and to fill out a special form to inform the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of their whereabouts.

Official statements did not specify how long the closure is expected to last, but according to Israeli analysts, the decision reflects “an unprecedented level of security alert,” comparable to the measures taken by Israel following the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation on October 7, 2023.

In addition to the direct Iranian threat, Israeli media have highlighted growing concerns about Yemen, as forces affiliated with the Sanaa-based government continue their attacks on Israeli interests in the Red Sea. Israel considers these attacks a real threat to regional shipping routes and has warned of an expanded scope of targeting if the escalation continues.

According to Israeli reports, decision-makers in Tel Aviv now view the threats coming from Yemen as an integral part of a “unified front” that includes Iran and its regional allies. This, in turn, complicates deterrence strategies and deepens Israel’s diplomatic isolation on the international stage.
