Al-Rafa’i Hospital in the Al-Houbane area of Taiz Governorate received the bodies of five children on Friday, who were killed in an artillery shelling that targeted the Jabal Al-Habeel area in Al-Hashma subdistrict, Al-Ta’iziyah District, according to matching reports from medical and security sources.
A medical source confirmed that the five children—Ahmed Al-Atmi, Anas Jawad, Mubarak Al-Sharaabi, Osama Abu Bakr, and Basheer Al-Fadli—arrived at the hospital already deceased due to severe injuries sustained in the attack.
A security source indicated that the shells were fired from areas under the control of forces loyal to the internationally recognized government. The shelling targeted a residential area in the district’s countryside, resulting in the deaths of the children, who were near their homes at the time.
The incident sparked widespread anger and sorrow among local residents, with calls for an immediate investigation and for those responsible to be held accountable. Local human rights organizations also renewed their calls to protect civilians—especially children—from being targeted in conflict zones.
