Swift Attack and Sudden Disruption: Hodeidah at the Heart of a New Confrontation

NYN | News

The port of Hodeidah came under an intense Israeli assault on Tuesday afternoon, as warplanes from the occupying entity launched a series of airstrikes targeting the strategic Yemeni port.

Israeli media reported that 12 airstrikes targeted three docks at the port, in an attempt to disable its operations for several weeks.

Channel 12 quoted an Israeli source as saying that the military operation was named “Looking from Above,” claiming it aimed to thwart efforts by the Sanaa government to make use of the port.

In response, the spokesperson for Sanaa’s armed forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, announced that Yemeni air defenses were engaging the Israeli aircraft involved in the aggression, confirming that they had succeeded in disrupting enemy formations and forcing some jets to leave the airspace before completing their missions.

Saree noted that these developments reflect the readiness of Yemen’s air defenses and their determination to thwart hostile incursions, despite the scale and intensity of the attacks.

The renewed attack on Hodeidah port places the Yemen file at the forefront of regional escalation, as Israel’s war on Gaza continues amid international warnings about the broader conflict’s impact on the security of the Red Sea and the region as a whole.
