The Dutch cargo vessel MV MINERVAGRACHT began drifting at sea after its crew lost control of it following a missile attack approximately 128 nautical miles southeast of the Port of Aden in southern Yemen.
According to preliminary information, the ship is believed to have links to Israel and was reportedly hit by a ballistic missile. However, the Sanaa-based forces have not claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
The European naval task force “Aspides” reported that the ship caught fire following the strike, which led to the loss of control. The force confirmed that no protection request had been received from the vessel prior to the incident.
In a post on platform X, the task force stated that it is closely monitoring the situation in coordination with European and regional authorities and expressed its readiness to provide the necessary support to the ship and its crew.
