Global Fleet of Steadfastness: Humanity Confronts the Occupation

NYN | Reports and analyses

A new chapter in the death of hope for the right to life has unfolded, as Israeli forces intercepted all ships belonging to the Global Fleet of Steadfastness, which aimed to break the siege on Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid to the besieged civilians.

The fleet, composed of 41 ships, carried activists and human rights advocates from around the world. They came with one message: to reject killing, starvation, and human rights violations, and to express solidarity with the children and women of Gaza who have suffered from blockade and malnutrition for the past two years.

Israeli forces stormed the ships one by one, rerouted them to Ashdod Port, and detained the activists—an outright violation of international laws and human rights principles that guarantee the freedom of movement for civilians and human rights defenders.

Their only “crime” was their humanity, their voices raised against injustice, and their resilience in the face of systematic starvation and killing.

What happened reflects the international community’s failure to protect human rights and the silence of regimes in the face of these violations, out of fear of American pressure, which serves as a shield and cover for such crimes.

International humanitarian laws—designed to protect civilians in conflicts—were blatantly ignored on the calm waves of the sea, while the convoy’s noble goal was simply to save lives and defend fundamental human rights.

The brutality inflicted upon children, women, and civilians in Gaza has shattered all false slogans about humanity and the right of people to live, reaffirming that the defense of human rights is not a choice, but a global duty.

Silence in the face of such violations affects not only governments but entire peoples. It is the absence of conscience that enables the abuse of human rights and the erosion of human dignity—paving the way for divine laws to begin writing a new chapter of history… a chapter without mercy.
