Maritime shipping and security consultant Lars Jensen stated that the Sanaa forces have successfully maintained the naval blockade imposed on Israel-linked navigation in the region, despite all Western attempts to break that blockade.
In a post on LinkedIn, the founder of the consultancy firm Vespucci Maritime discussed the attack that targeted the Dutch vessel Minerva Graecia in the Gulf of Aden two days ago. He explained that the ship’s owning company had violated the blockade imposed by Sanaa on dealings with Israeli ports.
Jensen noted that the recent attack aligns with the list of targets previously announced by the Sanaa forces, pointing out that the vessel fell within the category of ships targeted under the declared criteria related to Israel-linked maritime activity.
He added that while the international maritime community may condemn the actions of the Houthis, the truth is that they have demonstrated significant effectiveness in enforcing the blockade they have set.
He continued: Any vessel operating in the area and meeting the announced targeting criteria faces additional risks that are difficult to avoid.
Meanwhile, the Dutch company Spliethoff, which owns the vessel, confirmed that the attack caused severe damage to the ship and that all crew members were safely evacuated.
