The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning issued a warning on Monday about cold to relatively cold weather during the evening and early morning hours in the mountainous highlands. The center urged the elderly, children, and outdoor workers to take necessary precautions.
In its weather bulletin, the center stated that the expected weather over the next 24 hours will range from clear to partly cloudy, with chances of scattered rainfall in the governorates of Socotra Archipelago, Taiz, Ibb, Raymah, Hajjah, Al Mahwit, Al Hudaydah, and western Dhamar and Saada. Rainfall may also extend to parts of Al-Dhalea, Lahj, and Abyan during the afternoon and evening.
The center indicated that minimum temperatures are expected to range between 3°C and 10°C in the governorates of Dhamar, Sana’a, Amran, Saada, Al-Bayda, and Ibb, while relatively cold conditions will persist in other highland areas.
In coastal regions, partly to fully cloudy skies are expected, with scattered rain over the Socotra Archipelago and parts of the southern coasts. Moderate to active winds are also anticipated over the Gulf of Aden and eastern territorial waters.
The center also noted that desert areas will experience clear daytime weather with active winds that may stir up dust and sand.
The center reiterated its warnings to citizens and vehicle drivers against crossing flood channels during or after rainfall, and about reduced visibility due to fog formation on mountain roads and slopes.
