The United Nations Security Council is preparing to hold a closed-door consultation session tomorrow, Thursday, to discuss the latest political and humanitarian developments in Yemen, amid escalating regional tensions that threaten to undermine the already faltering peace process.
According to the Council’s provisional agenda, the session is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. New York time (5:00 p.m. Sana’a time), during which UN Special Envoy to Yemen Hans Grundberg and Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Joyce Msuya will deliver briefings addressing political, security, and human rights developments in the country.
Council members are expected to discuss the challenges facing the political process and efforts to revive it, in light of growing tensions between the Israeli entity and the government in Sana’a—and the implications this may have on broader regional peace efforts.
