A government official in Sana’a threatens to halt oil production from the fields in Ma’rib Governorate.

NYN | News:

A government official in Sanaa threatened to halt oil production from the Marib governorate fields, controlled by the Saudi-led coalition-backed government, similar to their targeting of oil exports through eastern Yemeni ports in late 2022.

This was according to a post by Sanaa government’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Hussein al-Azzi, on his “X” platform account on Saturday.

Al-Azzi wrote, “Without any shame or guilt, they monopolize Marib’s oil while 90% of the people are completely deprived, as if it’s private property of Al-Aradah (Marib governor and Presidential Council member) and the Islah Party.”

He added, questioning, “Have you seen such audacity and atrocity at this level?”

He also wondered, “Do you think we should stop oil in Marib and prevent access to it as we did in other areas until the people in our free areas (areas under his group’s control) get their full share?”
