It has become a matter of time before the Houthis (Ansar Allah) impose their control over the city of Marib, after ten years of military intervention by the coalition and the ignition of wars in Yemen.
The area surrounding the city of Marib has witnessed an unprecedented military escalation, with increasing warnings of the possibility of losing control over it amid clashes in key fronts (Raghwan – Madghal – Al-Faleha – Al-Balq).
In this context, Abdul Salam Muhammad, director of the Abwab Center for Studies and Research funded by the Islah Party, expressed his concerns about the security situation collapsing and the city falling within the next few days.
While the nature of the relationship between these concerns and the field reality has not been clarified, observers pointed out that the media escalation by the Islah Party coincides with American media leaks revealing understandings between Sana’a and the Marib tribes regarding arrangements for the post-Islah phase, referencing the backdrop of recent political tensions.
It is worth noting that in recent weeks, the Islah Party has worked to strengthen its influence through demonstrative maneuvers, possibly as an attempt to balance the covert movements signaling geopolitical changes in the region.
