Houthi movement leader Abdulmalik al-Houthi praised Turkey’s announcement of suspending its trade dealings with Israel.
Al-Houthi said in a televised speech on Thursday, “We commend Turkey’s announcement regarding its measures to limit exports or its commercial relations with the Israeli enemy.”
He added, “We hope that the Turkish step will reach a complete level in cutting commercial ties from Turkey’s side with the Israeli enemy, and that Turkey will follow some other Arab countries which export or receive goods to and from the Israeli enemy.”
The Turkish Ministry of Trade had announced that Ankara had halted all exports and imports to and from Israel, citing “the worsening humanitarian tragedy” in Palestinian territories.
The ministry stated in a press release, “Export and import transactions related to Israel, including all products, have been suspended.”
The statement added, “Turkey will implement these new measures strictly and decisively until the Israeli government allows uninterrupted and sufficient flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza.”
