The city of Aden—specifically the Al-Arish area, Hanger Line—has witnessed rising tension following an assault on a local fuel station, amid growing calls for urgent security intervention to uncover the circumstances behind the incident.
Mohammed Salem Al-Shahfoof, owner of Al-Yusr Fuel Station, said his station was attacked late last week, resulting in its complete destruction and the looting of its contents. He added that the assault forced the station to halt all operations and caused severe financial losses. He described the incident as a direct threat to private property and to the stability of the city.
According to his account, the attack occurred late at night, when a group of individuals stormed the station, vandalized its equipment, and damaged its facilities in what appeared to be a “premeditated” act. The nature of the assault has sparked widespread questions about the motives and the parties that may be behind it.
Al-Shahfoof called on the security authorities in Khormaksar and Al-Arish to open a formal investigation and hold those responsible accountable, stressing that the incident has disrupted an important source of fuel for Aden’s residents, particularly given the economic conditions the city is experiencing.
He also noted that he has begun taking legal action to pursue the perpetrators.
As of the time of publication, security authorities had not issued any statement or official comment regarding the attack or the station owner’s account.
