Al-Alimi Leaves Maashiq Palace Amid Tight Security and Complete Evacuation of His Presidential Office

NYN | News

President of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad al-Alimi, has left the presidential palace in the Maashiq area of Aden in a sudden move that coincided with rapidly unfolding developments in the southern governorates, according to sources quoted by Arabi21.

The sources said that al-Alimi departed his residence accompanied by his entire team, while urgent orders were issued to completely evacuate the presidential office. They added that al-Alimi’s staff burned documents and files described as “sensitive,” in addition to withdrawing weapons and vehicles belonging to the presidency and removing them from the palace grounds prior to his departure.

These actions come amid the advance of UAE-backed forces in Hadramawt Province and the expansion of their control toward areas in eastern Yemen, amid reports of arrangements to complete the takeover of the remaining southern cities—including Aden—in coordination with both the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

These developments reflect the mounting tensions among competing power centers in the south, at a time when reports indicate that the map of military and political influence is undergoing a sweeping reconfiguration, with movements aimed at redistributing control over strategic governorates.
