The President of the “Supreme Political Council” in Sana’a, Mahdi Al-Mashat, delivered direct messages to Saudi Arabia and the United States, reaffirming Yemen’s steadfast position on national and regional issues.
In a televised speech marking the tenth anniversary of the war on Yemen, Al-Mashat emphasized that the Yemeni people have achieved victories in the past and will continue to do so in the future. He stated that the situation in what he described as “occupied” areas cannot be ignored and reaffirmed that the full liberation of Yemeni territory is a goal that will not be abandoned.
Al-Mashat urged Saudi Arabia to adhere to the agreements ensuring a comprehensive and lasting peace, stating: “If the Saudi regime is serious about its peace efforts, it must fulfill the actual requirements of peace, including ending the aggression, lifting the blockade, and the complete withdrawal of foreign forces from Yemen.”
He also stressed that achieving peace requires addressing the consequences of the war, including the issue of prisoners, compensations, reparations, and reconstruction.
Regarding the Palestinian cause, Al-Mashat reaffirmed Yemen’s continued support for the Palestinian people and the residents of Gaza, asserting that support operations will persist despite any consequences. He emphasized that U.S. aggression will not deter Yemen from its stance.
Al-Mashat also issued a warning to Washington, stating: “The decision to attack Yemen to force us to abandon our support for Gaza will not succeed.” He added that any attempt to coerce Yemen into changing its position would fail, as past wars waged by major powers have not broken Yemen’s will, and the resistance will continue from generation to generation.
He concluded his speech by asserting that Yemen has historically been a graveyard for invaders, warning that any attempt to break the will of the Yemeni people will lead to a major predicament for those who pursue it.
