Amr bin Habrish Seizes PetroMasila… Presidential Council Forces Vow to Strike with an Iron Fist

NYN | News

Security tensions continue to escalate in Hadramout, eastern Yemen, after the command of the Second Military Region—affiliated with the Presidential Leadership Council and backed by the coalition—announced on Saturday that armed groups loyal to the head of the Hadramout Alliance, Sheikh Amr bin Habrish, had attacked positions belonging to the Company Protection Forces and stormed facilities belonging to the PetroMasila oil company.

The command clarified in an official statement that this attack represents a dangerous escalation by what it described as “lawless groups,” targeting one of the most critical assets of the Yemeni people—namely the company and vital oil facilities in the governorate.

The statement condemned what it called “irresponsible actions,” warning that continued assaults of this kind could result in severe consequences for local security and stability.

The command stressed that the governorate cannot be left prey to chaos and that it will act firmly against any party attempting to threaten the facilities or harm the Hadrami Elite units.

It called on all parties to preserve security and stability and resolve disputes peacefully, affirming that it will take all necessary measures to protect public property, PetroMasila’s facilities, and the oil fields, and that it “will strike with an iron fist anyone who threatens their security or attempts to harm them.”

For his part, the commander of the Second Military Region, Major General Talib Saeed Barjash, stated in a strongly worded remark that the assaults carried out by Sheikh Amr bin Habrish and what he described as his “sabotaging elements” on the oil company sites “will not go unpunished,” stressing that the perpetrators will face swift and deterrent justice.

General Barjash said that the armed forces of the Second Military Region will not allow security and stability in Hadramout to be undermined, and that they will deal “with an iron hand” with anyone attempting to threaten public order or target vital facilities, emphasizing that what occurred amounts to a blatant attack on the governorate’s assets and an attempt to provoke chaos.

This escalation comes amid ongoing tensions between the Hadramout Alliance led by Sheikh Amr bin Habrish and other armed formations in the governorate, amid fears that the confrontations could affect oil production and the stability of the region in eastern Yemen, which represents one of the country’s most important sources of oil revenue.
