An Italian newspaper: Yemen inflicts heavy losses on the United States in the Red Sea after 10 years of suffering from bombardment

Under the headline “After 10 Years of Suffering from Bombardment… Yemen Inflicts Heavy Losses on the United States in the Red Sea,” the Italian online newspaper “FarodiRoma” published a report highlighting what it described as the “successes” achieved by the operations carried out by the forces of the Sanaa government “supporting Gaza,” and the failure of international alliances to deter them.
The report enumerated recent operations announced by the Sanaa government forces, including the downing of the fifth American MQ-9 drone since the start of their operations in support of Gaza. The report stated: “The successes of Ansar Allah in the air and sea preceded American and British air raids carried out two days ago targeting Hodeidah Airport in Yemen,” indicating the failure of American and British strikes to prevent the attacks by the Sanaa government forces, also known as “Ansar Allah.”
The Italian newspaper viewed the missions of the American and European naval forces in the Red Sea as having “failed to deter Yemen.”
It stated that “many European Union countries withdrew their warships to avoid the humiliation of their sinking,” adding that the Sanaa government forces rely on what it described as “unprecedented” war techniques, using drones and missiles produced in Yemen or obtained from Iran at a cost of a few thousand dollars, and have managed to destroy Western weapons costing millions of dollars.
The newspaper noted that the expansion of the Sanaa government forces’ operations supporting the Palestinians earlier this year to include the Indian Ocean “severely impacted the Israeli economy.”
It added that the announcement by Sanaa forces on May 3rd that they would expand their operations to include the Mediterranean Sea “shocked the Italian Navy,” considering that Italy’s involvement in the confrontation would expose it to significant losses.
Since late last year, the Sanaa government forces have begun targeting Israeli and related ships in the Red and Arabian Seas before announcing the extension of their operations to part of the Indian Ocean. Recently, they announced the beginning of the fourth phase of escalation against ships “even in the Mediterranean” in support of the Palestinians in Gaza. They stated that their operations against “Israel” would continue until the latter stops its genocide in Gaza and lifts the siege.
In response, the US and UK launched airstrikes on Yemen, prompting the Sanaa government forces to declare that their operations would include targeting American and British commercial and military ships in response to what they called “the American-British aggression.”
On February 19, 2024, the European Union announced the launch of a military operation named “Aspide,” led by Italy in the Red Sea, while the United States announced the launch of an operation named “Guardian of Prosperity,” both aiming to counter the attacks carried out by the Sanaa government forces against “Israel.”
