Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, the leader of the Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) in Yemen, issued a new warning to Saudi Arabia, accusing it of engaging in “hostile” escalation against Yemenis.
In a televised speech, al-Houthi stated, “Our warning to Saudi Arabia at the beginning of the new Hijri year is a serious one in every sense of the word.” He added, “No matter the Saudi escalation or its consequences, it will not affect our steadfast and principled stance in supporting the Palestinian people.”
He continued, “Saudi Arabia must halt its unjustified and erroneous path. Its claim of facing American pressure is neither justified nor acceptable.” Addressing the Saudi regime, he said, “Leave us to confront America with all its enormous capabilities; it has far more than you do. You will not succeed in stopping or reducing our operations supporting the Palestinian people, nor will you force our people to retreat from their stance. When you entangle yourself, you will suffer more losses than the Americans, as there are many targets close to us that can cause you severe damage.”
Al-Houthi deemed the targeting of banks, airports, and ports as red lines that cannot be crossed, according to his statements.
In concluding his speech, al-Houthi called on the Yemeni people, saying, “Let the Saudi regime and the entire world hear the voice of freedom, pride, courage, and faith tomorrow in Al-Sabeen Square and all provinces.” He emphasized, “We warned Saudi Arabia in your name so that it does not think our stance is mere media hype. It should know that we speak with your voice and act according to your direction.”
On the previous Sunday, al-Houthi threatened to strike vital Saudi installations, including airports, banks, and ports, after accusing Saudi Arabia of taking “hostile steps against the Yemeni people in service of America and Israel.” In a televised speech, he said, “The most important focus of American enmity against our country is the economic sector because its harm affects everyone. The Americans sent a message to Sanaa confirming that they would push Saudi Arabia to take hostile steps against Yemen.” He added, “The pressure to relocate banks from Sanaa is a crazy and stupid step; no one in the world thinks this way. The Americans know the negative impact of relocating banks on the living conditions, currency, and prices in Yemen.”
Al-Houthi also mentioned that “after the relocation of banks, Saudi Arabia moved to disrupt Sanaa airport and halt flights, despite their limited and narrow scope.” He pointed out that incitement statements from Israelis, Americans, and Britons towards Saudi Arabia continued, demanding the closure of the port. He noted that they had sent advice and warnings through all intermediaries for Saudi Arabia to retract this “foolish step,” but it still procrastinates.
Al-Houthi claimed that the Americans want to entangle Saudi Arabia in a full-scale war, arguing that “Saudi actions against our people serve Israel, with no justification other than serving Israeli interests.” He added, “What they did over the past nine years, occupying large parts of the country, controlling oil wealth, and mobilizing mercenaries and agents to fight their people, was not enough for them. They turned towards crazy and stupid steps.”
Al-Houthi declared they would not stand idle in the face of “crazy steps” or watch their people suffer from hunger and economic collapse. He asserted, “Our focus on the direct battle to support Gaza does not mean we cannot act against hostile steps. Anyone who thinks they can annihilate our people through hunger, disease, epidemics, and severe blockade is mistaken.”
He confirmed that Yemen would respond in kind to any “hostile” step: “banks for banks, Riyadh airport for Sanaa airport, ports for ports. Getting involved with the Americans and Israelis will result in losses for Saudi interests and security, bringing danger to their oil.” He sent a message to the Saudi regime, saying, “When you force us into unavoidable options, we will act with full conviction and confidence because we are already in war, blockade, and suffering. We will not allow the annihilation of our people and their complete collapse to avoid a problem. Let there be a thousand problems.”
He concluded, “The Americans are trying to entangle you. If you want that, then try. If you want good for yourselves, stability for your country, and your economy, stop your conspiracies against our country. If you entangle yourselves further, our escalation will be greater. Do not rely on the Americans; they have failed and were unable to protect their military vessels in the Red Sea.”
