Arab and Islamic Condemnations of Israeli Aggression on Yemen

NYN | Reports and analyses:

Several Arab and Islamic countries have condemned the Israeli aggression on Yemen, warning of its implications for the regional security situation and efforts to end the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza for the past 10 months.

The Zionist entity launched airstrikes on the port of Hodeidah in western Yemen on Saturday evening, targeting fuel tanks and the power station, resulting in the martyrdom of 6 people, the disappearance of 3 others, and the injury of 83 individuals, according to media affiliated with the Sanaa government.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the raids as a response to a drone attack by the “Houthis” on Tel Aviv early Friday, which killed one Israeli and injured 10 others.

Algeria strongly condemned the Israeli aggression on Yemen’s Hodeidah province on Sunday, calling on the international community to hold Israel accountable and prevent it from evading punishment.

The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on social media that the Israeli attacks, which resulted in 6 martyrs, 3 missing, and 83 injured, are part of a strategy of escalation aimed at asserting Israel’s dominance in the region and diverting attention from its crimes in Gaza and Palestine.

Algeria emphasized that the Zionist entity continues to defy the international community and global condemnations, urging the international community to take responsibility and prevent the entity from escaping punishment.

The Sultanate of Oman also condemned the Israeli aggression on Yemen in a statement on Sunday, stating that it represents a new escalation of tension in the region, which would further complicate the regional situation and hinder efforts to achieve calm.

The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ statement said: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the Sultanate of Oman’s condemnation of the Israeli military attacks on the brotherly Republic of Yemen, which represents a new escalation of tension in the region that would further complicate the regional situation and hinder efforts to end conflicts and achieve the desired peace, especially regarding the Arab-Israeli conflict and achieving justice for the Palestinian people.”

The statement added: “The ministry calls on the international community to assume its responsibilities to maintain regional and international security and peace, and to take decisive action to protect civilians and ensure the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.”

Similarly, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the Zionist aggression on Yemen, saying in a statement that it “expresses the Republic of Iraq’s condemnation and denunciation of the Zionist aggression on the brotherly Republic of Yemen, which targeted oil and civilian installations, including the port of Hodeidah and the electricity company, resulting in civilian casualties and injuries.”

Iraq’s statement considered this attack a “dangerous escalation that threatens regional stability,” affirming its full solidarity with the Yemeni people and holding the Zionist entity responsible for any military escalation in the region.

Kuwait also condemned the Israeli aggression on Yemen, noting that it would further deteriorate the security situation in the region and undermine international efforts to end conflicts.

Kuwait reaffirmed its continued support for efforts to achieve security and stability in Yemen and to spare its brotherly people further suffering.

Egypt warned on Saturday evening of the risks of expanding the conflict in the region due to developments in the Gaza war, calling on all parties to exercise restraint and calm to avoid regional chaos.

It emphasized that a ceasefire in Gaza is the primary step to contain the tension and achieve comprehensive calm in the region.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep concern over the military escalation in Yemen following Israeli attacks, stating that these strikes increase regional tension and harm ongoing efforts to end the war in the Gaza Strip.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry urged all parties to exercise utmost restraint, stressing the need for the international community and influential parties to assume their roles and responsibilities to end conflicts in the region. It also reaffirmed its ongoing efforts to end the war in Gaza and support for peace efforts in Yemen.

Iran condemned the Israeli airstrikes on Yemen’s port of Hodeidah, according to a statement by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani, warning of escalating tensions and the risk of war in the region due to the “dangerous adventure of the Zionists.”

Kanaani said, “The oppressed and strong Yemeni people are paying the price for their honorable support of the innocent citizens, women, and children of Gaza,” noting that Iran considers the actions of the Zionist entity in Gaza the “main cause” of ongoing tensions in the region.

The Afghan government also condemned the Israeli aggression on Yemen on Sunday. Abdul Qahar Balkhi, spokesman for the Afghan interim government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a post on the “X” platform that his country strongly condemns the Israeli airstrike on the port of Hodeidah, noting that the attack resulted in civilian casualties.

He called on “international organizations and influential countries to stop the crimes committed by the Zionist entity in Gaza and the region to prevent further loss of life and destruction in the region.”

In solidarity with Gaza, Sanaa government forces target Israeli or Israel-related cargo ships in the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean, as well as Israeli targets within the occupied Palestinian territories.
