The extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit held in Doha has just issued its final statement, strongly condemning the recent Israeli aggression against the State of Qatar, calling it a dangerous escalation that undermines any prospects for peace in the region.
The statement emphasized that the Israeli attack on a residential neighborhood hosting the Hamas negotiating delegation constitutes a blatant violation of the sovereignty of a UN member state, describing the assault as a deliberate attempt to undermine international mediation efforts and political initiatives aimed at ending the suffering of the Palestinian people.
The summit expressed full solidarity with Qatar, urging the international community to take urgent measures to protect Qatar’s security, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens, and to reject all attempts to justify the Israeli aggression under any pretext.
The statement also praised Qatar’s wise and civilized response to the attack, and its continued support—along with Egypt and the United States—for mediation efforts to stop the assault on Gaza.
The summit rejected all attempts to forcibly displace the Palestinian people, labeling such actions as a form of ethnic cleansing, and called for the immediate implementation of a Gaza reconstruction plan and an end to the ongoing siege and starvation tactics.
It further warned of the catastrophic consequences of any Israeli attempts to annex parts of the occupied Palestinian territories, stressing the urgent need for international action to halt violations of national sovereignty.
The statement commended Qatar’s leadership in fostering dialogue and consensus among member states and reaffirmed support for the Hashemite custodianship over the holy sites in Jerusalem, the resilience of Jerusalem’s Palestinian residents, and the pursuit of a just and comprehensive peace based on the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy.
The summit also welcomed the UN General Assembly’s adoption of the “New York Declaration” calling for the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Finally, the statement called for measures to support the enforcement of International Criminal Court arrest warrantsagainst those responsible for crimes against the Palestinian people, stressing the importance of Arab and Islamic unity in facing common threats and challenges.
