Israeli media outlets have revealed developments described as rapidly accelerating in the normalization track between the Zionist occupation entity and the Syrian transitional government, amid notable progress in ongoing talks aimed at concluding a comprehensive security agreement between the two sides.
Israel’s i24 News channel quoted a Syrian source close to the head of the Syrian transitional government, Ahmad al-Sharaa (formerly Abu Mohammad al-Jolani), as saying that recent weeks have witnessed a major breakthrough in drafting the provisions of the agreement. The source noted that this progress came as a result of direct mediation and intensive efforts led by U.S. President Donald Trump.
The source explained that the anticipated agreement is not limited to security arrangements, but also includes a diplomatic annex outlining the future contours of relations between the two sides, in a step that could bring about a qualitative shift in the regional landscape.
According to the leaks, the signing of the agreement may take place during a high-level meeting to be held in one of the European capitals in the near future, amid official secrecy from the parties concerned.
The same source did not rule out the possibility of a direct meeting between the prime minister of the occupation entity, Benjamin Netanyahu, and Ahmad al-Sharaa, in what would be an unprecedented first of its kind, potentially paving the way for a reshaping of political and security arrangements in the region.
