Beyond the Strikes… What Is Sana’a Planning?

NYN | News

U.S. magazine Newsweek reported on Monday that Yemen continues to challenge the United States by launching missiles toward Israel and imposing restrictions on Israeli navigation in the Red Sea, despite ongoing American airstrikes.
The magazine noted that Sanaa’s forces remain resilient and have shown few signs of retreat, despite reports of significant damage caused by U.S. attacks.
In this context, Emily Milliken, Associate Director of Media and Communications at the N7 Initiative under the Atlantic Council’s Middle East Programs, stated that targeting Yemen presents a complex challenge. She emphasized that the Trump administration must recognize that military force alone will not achieve the goal of “total annihilation” sought by Washington.
Milliken added that the Houthis (Ansar Allah) possess strong adaptability and resilience, along with deep-rooted influence across Yemen, which further complicates efforts to confront them.
Newsweek concluded its report by stating that the continuation of the American campaign in Yemen depends on Washington’s willingness to bear the rising financial and strategic costs, amid growing concerns that the conflict could expand into a broader confrontation with Iran, given ongoing tensions surrounding its nuclear program.
