US President Joe Biden has been briefed on a drone attack by Sanaa forces that targeted Tel Aviv, resulting in one death and at least ten injuries, according to media reports.
CNN cited a White House official stating, “The President was also briefed on the overnight drone attack in Tel Aviv.”
The explosion occurred early Friday morning, about 100 meters (330 feet) from the compound of the US embassy’s branch office, according to CNN’s analysis of open-source satellite images of the site.
The US State Department reported no damage to the US diplomatic mission and no injuries among American personnel or local staff.
A State Department spokesperson added, “We are in close contact with Israeli authorities to conduct a full investigation into the source and intended target of the explosion.”
Sanaa forces issued a statement regarding the operation, declaring that “the Yemeni Armed Forces’ Air Force carried out a significant military operation targeting one of the important sites in the occupied Yafa area, known as Tel Aviv by Israelis.” They noted that the operation was carried out using a new drone named “Yafa,” capable of bypassing enemy interception systems and undetectable by radar, and that the operation successfully achieved its objectives.
