A statement issued by an adviser to the President of the United Arab Emirates sparked widespread controversy after he launched a sharp attack on Saudi media over an article published by the Saudi newspaper Al-Jazirah, which compared the UAE to a “Trojan horse” for Israel in the region.

Direct Threat to Saudi Media

In what was viewed as an unprecedented escalation, Abdulkhaleq Abdullah, political adviser to the UAE president, said in a post on the X platform that “the UAE is capable of silencing tongues, and pens will dry up by order of those who wield a heavy whip,” a clear expression of his anger at the Saudi media narrative.

Zionist Solidarity with the Comparison

At the same time, Zionist media expressed dissatisfaction with the Saudi newspaper’s decision to delete the article, arguing that describing the UAE as a “Trojan horse” represents a “logical” characterization of its regional role, according to reports circulated by Hebrew-language media platforms.

A Power Struggle Beyond the Media

This escalation comes at a time of growing tension in relations between Riyadh and Abu Dhabi, following what was described as a “political divorce” between the two former partners in the Yemen alliance, amid an exchange of harsh media messages and a shift toward what has become known as “below-the-belt blows.”

A New Phase with No Clear Horizon

Observers believe the coming phase may witness broader escalation between the tools of the American–Zionist project in the region, in the absence of clear indicators as to which side will gain the upper hand in this intensifying conflict.
