Breaking: Official American announcement regarding the airstrikes on Sana’a and other cities, resulting in casualties.

NYN | News:

U.S. Central Command announced in the early hours of Friday morning that, in cooperation with the British Armed Forces, it conducted a series of airstrikes on 13 targets in areas controlled by the Sana’a government forces.

In a statement posted on its official “X” account, U.S. Central Command stated that they “successfully destroyed eight unmanned aerial vehicles in areas controlled by the Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen and over the Red Sea.”

It added that, alongside the British Armed Forces, they executed strikes “against 13 Houthi targets in Houthi-controlled areas,” describing it as “self-defense.”

In contrast, Al-Masirah channel, affiliated with the Ansar Allah (Houthis) movement, reported that three “American-British aggression” airstrikes targeted the Al-Nahdin area in the Al-Sabeen district of the capital Sana’a, one strike on the vicinity of Sana’a International Airport, and two strikes on the Jarban area in the Sanhan district of Sana’a governorate.

It added that American-British airstrikes targeted the radio building in the Al-Hawak district and a building in the Al-Salif port in Al-Hodeidah governorate, as well as the communications network in the Al-Aboos area in the Hayfan district of Taiz governorate.

Al-Masirah reported that the “American-British aggression” on the radio building in the Al-Hawak district resulted in “one martyr and several injured.”

Since November of last year, the Sana’a government forces announced the beginning of targeting Israeli ships and those associated with them in the Red and Arabian Seas before extending their operations to parts of the Indian Ocean. Recently, they announced the start of the fourth phase of escalation against ships “even in the Mediterranean Sea” to support Palestinians in Gaza. They claim their operations against “Israel” will continue until Israel ends its genocide in Gaza and lifts the siege.

In response, the U.S. and Britain launched airstrikes on Yemen, prompting the Sana’a government forces to declare that their operations would include targeting American and British commercial and military ships in response to what they termed the “American-British aggression.”

On February 19, 2024, the European Union announced the launch of a military operation named “Aspis,” led by Italy in the Red Sea, while the United States announced an operation named “Guardian of Prosperity,” aimed at countering the attacks launched by Sana’a forces against “Israel.”
