The British Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported on Saturday that a small explosion occurred near a ship 170 nautical miles east of the Yemeni city of Aden. The incident comes as Sana’a government forces target ships linked to “Israel” in solidarity with Gaza.
Initially, the authority had stated that the incident occurred southwest of Aden.
In a report citing the ship’s captain of the MV Groton, UKMTO added, “An armed security team observed a small explosion near the ship.”
The ship’s captain also confirmed that no damage occurred and that all crew members are safe.
