The American website Business Insider has revealed the cost of munitions used by the United States in its confrontations with Sanaa government forces in the Red Sea up until mid-July.
According to the report by Business Insider, a U.S. Navy spokesperson stated that the “Eisenhower” carrier strike group and several other warships involved in combat operations against the Houthis in the Red Sea and surrounding areas had fired munitions worth $1.16 billion during the period from October 7 to mid-July.
The report indicates that this newly disclosed figure covers the total cost of 770 munitions fired by the “Eisenhower” carrier strike group from October 7 to mid-July, highlighting the significant financial burden of the ongoing U.S. mission against the Houthis.
The spokesperson explained that a variety of weapons were used by the “Eisenhower” carrier strike group, including those deployed by aircraft and ships associated with the group, as well as those operating independently.
The report noted that the munitions used included surface-to-air missiles, land-attack missiles, air-to-air missiles, and air-to-ground weapons.
In clarifying the financial implications of U.S. intervention, the report added that the new figure ($1.16 billion) suggests that the U.S. Navy fired munitions worth approximately $160 million between mid-April and mid-July alone.
It is worth noting that these figures do not include the operating costs of U.S. warships, aerial sorties, and logistical operations.
