Casualties in U.S. Drone Strike in Eastern Yemen

NYN | News

American drones renewed their airstrikes on Shabwa province, Yemen’s oil-rich eastern region, on Wednesday.

Local sources reported that a suspected U.S. drone targeted a gathering of al-Qaeda militants in the Lower Markha district, killing two individuals, including the son of a prominent leader.

The sources confirmed that the strike occurred in the Khawrah area and resulted in the deaths of Saqr Al-Humaikaniand Mohammed Khamis bin Arfaj Al-Dhahmi, the son of Khamis Al-Dhahmi, a senior figure who had previously been killed in a similar airstrike.

The sources added that several others from the group were injured in the attack, and armed militants quickly arrived at the scene to evacuate the dead and wounded, amid a high level of secrecy.

This operation is part of a series of ongoing U.S. airstrikes in Yemen’s eastern and southern provinces, carried out under the pretext of pursuing al-Qaeda elements in the country.
