Seismic activity continues to make a notable presence across several Yemeni provinces. In the early hours of Friday, the Earthquake and Volcano Monitoring Center in Dhamar Province recorded a new tremor between the northern provinces of Hajjah and Saada.
According to the center’s bulletin, the earthquake registered a magnitude of 3.5 on the Richter scale and occurred at 4:58 AM. The epicenter was located 36 kilometers northeast of Hajjah and 32 kilometers south of the Haidan area in Saada.
So far, there have been no reports of human or material damage. However, the continued occurrence of these tremors is causing concern among residents, especially as they have been repeating across northern, southern, and western parts of Yemen in recent weeks.
Geological experts have previously discussed the potential seismic implications of Ethiopia’s Grand Renaissance Dam, warning that increasing hydrological pressure on regional fault lines could trigger unprecedented seismic activity in the near future.
They noted that these changes might lead to a major earthquake affecting multiple countries, including Yemen, stressing that the threat extends beyond the immediate vicinity of the dam due to the region’s interconnected geological structure.
