Somalia’s Permanent Representative to the African Union, Ambassador Abdallah Mohamed Warfa, warned of serious consequences stemming from any presence of the Israeli occupation entity in Bab al-Mandab and the Gulf of Aden, stressing that such a move would trigger an explosion of tensions across the entire Horn of Africa and Red Sea region.
Direct accusation of attempting to dismantle Somalia
In an interview on Cairo News Channel, Warfa said that the occupation entity is working to dismantle Somalia as part of a strategic plan aimed at securing a military foothold in one of the world’s most important maritime corridors, noting that these moves pose a direct threat to regional security and stability.
Broader schemes stretching from Palestine to the Red Sea
The Somali ambassador explained that Israeli activities in Somalia cannot be separated from broader schemes that include the displacement of Palestinians and the expansion of military presence along the Red Sea coast, with all the grave risks this entails for regional and international security.
Somalia: Our unity is a red line
Warfa emphasized that Israeli actions cannot define Somalia’s borders or undermine its unity and sovereignty, affirming that his country categorically rejects any external attempts to impose a new reality in the region.
Arab moves to confront the threat
The Somali representative revealed that his country is conducting intensive consultations and communications with Arab partners to coordinate positions and upcoming steps, in light of what he described as an “imminent danger” that threatens to ignite the entire region should this approach continue.
