Emirati Moves Against Sana’a… The Calm Before the Storm?

NYN | News

The UAE is intensifying its hostile actions against Sana’a at an accelerated pace, amid growing signs of military escalation in the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

In recent days, several Emirati military flights have been recorded landing at both Mokha Airport and the strategic Mayun Island, west of Taiz Governorate — steps described as suspicious and alarming, especially in light of escalating regional tensions.

According to the flight-tracking website Flightradar24, a Brazilian-made Embraer Legacy 600 aircraft, registered in Gambia under the code C5-SKY, landed at Mokha Airport last Thursday after departing from Sharjah. This coincided with near-daily flights to Bosaso, a Somali city overlooking the Gulf of Aden.

The site also noted that the same aircraft later returned to Oakland Airport in California via Riyadh, without explaining the purpose of this unusual trip.

Since early April, intensified movements by the UAE Air Force have been observed, including a Lockheed C-130H aircraft with the registration number “1211” landing at both Mayun Island and Mokha Airport. Additionally, an Airbus C-295W aircraft, numbered “822,” was tracked flying in recent days over the Bab al-Mandab Strait near Mokha.

The site also revealed the presence of a new airstrip near the coastal area of Kahboub, raising questions about the true objectives behind these Emirati maneuvers in one of the most sensitive and strategic regions in the area.
