British maritime security firm Ambrey has just reported an emergency maritime incident in Yemeni territorial waters, where an oil tanker was struck by a mysterious blast, prompting an urgent distress call.
According to a statement issued by the company, the explosion occurred onboard the tanker approximately 60 nautical miles south of the coastal city of Ahwar, in Yemen’s Abyan province.
The ship’s crew reported their intention to evacuate the vessel immediately, leading to the deployment of search and rescue teams, who have since begun operations in the area.
