“Foreign Policy”: An imminent Saudi-American agreement could lead to the resumption of war in Yemen.

NYN | Reports and analyses:

The American magazine “Foreign Policy” reported on Wednesday that the Biden administration is on the verge of entering into an “unwise” bilateral agreement with Saudi Arabia. This deal could encourage Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to attack Yemen again with American weapons. The magazine called on Biden to abandon the deal, which “undermines larger American strategic objectives in the Middle East and the global order.”

In an article published by the magazine, David White, a professor at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and author of “Oil Money,” translated by “New Yemen News,” stated that Washington and Riyadh are close to finalizing an agreement that includes maintaining an American military presence in the region in exchange for guaranteeing American protection for Saudi Arabia and the latter’s normalization of relations with “Israel.”

White considered the deal that Biden is leaning towards with Saudi Arabia as an endorsement and approval of Mohammed bin Salman’s violations of international laws, destabilization of the Middle East, and his “catastrophic” military intervention in Yemen.

He said that “the new Saudi-American agreement might encourage Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s penchant for reckless military adventures and attacking Yemen again using American weapons.” He added that it could also “increase the likelihood of American forces being drawn into violence in the region, especially if Riyadh and Washington sign a defense agreement.”
