Hadhrami Anger Erupts… Al-Shihr Paralyzed

NYN | News

The city of Al-Shihr in Hadhramaut Governorate witnessed angry popular protests today, marked by a widespread civil disobedience campaign that brought the city to a complete standstill, with broad participation from all segments of society.

Activists circulated video clips showing shops closed and traffic halted, while dozens gathered in front of the local authority headquarters, raising clear demands—most notably, granting the people of Hadhramaut the right to manage their own land and resources, and rejecting any foreign interference that undermines Hadhrami sovereignty.

Protesters also called for the provision of electricity and basic services, and the fight against corruption without exception, declaring their full solidarity with the residents of Tarim in what they described as legitimate demands.

These developments come amid a growing wave of protests across several cities in Hadhramaut, driven by the continued deterioration of living conditions and public services, alongside the absence of serious governmental solutions.
