Half a Million Dollars to Escape Defeat!

NYN | News

The Director of Eilat Port, Gideon Golber, has called on Tel Aviv to compel commercial ships to dock at the port—even if it means offering an incentive of half a million dollars per vessel, according to The Washington Post on Tuesday.

Golber stated that he had informed the Ministries of Transport, Finance, and Economy that demonstrating Israel’s ports cannot be shut down would require substantial government funding. He proposed that the state cover the costs of attracting ships, despite the fact that the port has been non-operational for over 19 months, incurring monthly losses of approximately $1.2 million while continuing to pay salaries and fees to the government and municipality.
