The Hebrew economic newspaper “Calcalist” confirmed a significant decline in car exports from China to “Israel,” indicating that the primary reasons are the operations carried out by Sana’a government forces against Israeli shipping and the halt of operations at the Port of Eilat.
The newspaper reports that data from a report by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers show a 20% increase in global car exports from China in the first five months of this year compared to last year, while exports to “Israel” have decreased. It explains that this decline is due to “increased tax on electric cars and the cessation of activity at the Port of Eilat.”
The newspaper also highlighted that the volume of car exports from China to “Israel” significantly decreased during the first half of 2024, according to a special market survey published by “Shi Dongshu,” the Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), an organization for Chinese passenger car manufacturers.
It is worth noting that Sana’a government forces have claimed responsibility for several missile and drone attacks on the Port of Eilat, causing it to cease operations completely, according to officials.
Since late last year, Sana’a government forces have been targeting Israeli objectives in the occupied Palestinian territories and attacking Israeli ships and those linked to them in the Red and Arabian Seas. They later announced extending their operations to parts of the Indian Ocean. Recently, they declared the start of the fourth phase of escalation against ships “up to the Mediterranean Sea” to support Palestinians in Gaza. They insist their operations against “Israel” will continue, conditional on “ending the aggression and lifting the siege on Gaza” to halt their military operations “supporting Gaza.”
In response, the U.S. and Britain launched airstrikes on Yemen, prompting Sana’a government forces to announce that their operations would include targeting American and British commercial and military ships in retaliation for what they termed the “American-British aggression.”
On February 19, 2024, the European Union announced the launch of a military operation named “Aspid” led by Italy in the Red Sea, while the United States announced the launch of an operation named “Guardian of Prosperity,” both aiming to counter the attacks carried out by Sana’a government forces against “Israel.”
