Hebrew Perspectives on Yemen’s Response to the Israeli Attack: Arsenal and Targets

NYN | Reports and analyses:

A Hebrew report highlighted the potential scenarios for the next phase of escalation that the Sana’a government forces, referred to as the Houthis, might initiate in response to the Israeli attack on Yemen.

The newspaper “Yedioth Ahronoth” mentioned in its report that “the Houthis might respond to the Israeli attack on the province of Hodeidah by firing at what they call ‘sensitive targets’ in Israel from Yemen.”

According to “Yedioth Ahronoth,” this could include “intensive or limited retaliatory fire on targets they claim to have already attacked, such as Eilat, Haifa, or Tel Aviv.” However, there is also a possibility that they will “challenge” and attempt to attack new targets within their target bank.

The threat may involve launching the “fifth phase” of escalation, which could mean “attacking Israel or using new weapons or additional threats in the maritime arena.”

The newspaper considered that “the various response options are not mutually exclusive and can also be combined. For example, another option for a Houthi response is a joint attack by the Houthis and the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, as the two parties have united in recent weeks and have already claimed responsibility for joint attacks on Israel.”

The Israeli Institute for National Security Studies published that the Houthis are indeed equipped with medium and long-range ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, sea-to-sea missiles, attack and suicide drones, and a fleet of UAVs.

It was noted that “the Houthis have demonstrated capabilities and operational skills with UAVs to carry out deadly attacks.”

In fact, the leader of the “Ansar Allah” movement, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, said today, Sunday, that “the targeting of Jaffa is the beginning of the fifth phase of escalation, and we consider it a new equation that will continue and be established with God’s help and support.”

Earlier, Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said that Air Force planes struck the port of Hodeidah in Yemen “in response to Houthi attacks over the past nine months.”

Meanwhile, the Sana’a government forces confirmed in a statement by their spokesman, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, that they “will respond to this blatant aggression and will not hesitate to strike the enemy’s vital targets in Israel, considering the occupied area of Jaffa an unsafe zone.”
