Hot Night: Street Explosion in Hadramout

NYN | News

The city of Mukalla in Hadramout Governorate witnessed angry popular protests on Sunday evening that swept through the city’s streets.

Protesters closed main streets in the Al-Days area and set car tires on fire to express their anger over the rapid collapse of the local currency, rising prices, and power outages, amid widespread accusations of corruption and the looting of the governorate’s resources.

The demonstrators chanted angry slogans against the coalition, the Presidential Leadership Council, and the government, accusing them of failing to address the economic crisis and leaving citizens to face an uncertain fate.

The protesters emphasized that the continued deterioration of living conditions in Hadramout, despite it being one of the richest Yemeni governorates in resources, is proof of poor management and widespread corruption within state institutions.

Hadramout, along with many other Yemeni governorates under the control of the coalition-backed Presidential Leadership Council, is experiencing a popular backlash due to the economic decline and the lack of basic services, amid growing calls for urgent action to save the situation before it escalates further.
