In a televised address, Houthi leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi commented on the U.S. presidential election results, asserting that Donald Trump’s victory will not alter Sana’a’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and Lebanon. Al-Houthi said, “The U.S. election results will not change our principled stance,” emphasizing that “the enemies” have no option but to end the aggression and blockade on Gaza and stop hostile interventions against Lebanon.
Al-Houthi accused certain Arab regimes and their media of exaggerating the impact of the U.S. elections and attempting to frighten people with Trump’s policies. He described these efforts as attempts to undermine the positions of regional populations, but he asserted that these tactics would not succeed in changing their fundamental stances. He reaffirmed that Ansar Allah maintains its solid position in supporting the Palestinian people, regardless of international developments.
Reflecting on Yemen’s experience with Trump, al-Houthi noted that U.S. policies had failed to achieve “decisive results” in Yemen or in other key regional issues such as Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and Iran. He suggested that Trump’s successes were limited to “extorting” some Arab regimes for hundreds of billions of dollars, which negatively impacted their economies.
Al-Houthi continued, stating that neither Trump nor any other leader would sway their “religious and principled” commitment to supporting the Palestinian people. He added that “any escalation or aggression against Yemen” would not alter this position. He urged the U.S. and its allies to consider the best option, which he described as ending aggression, lifting the siege on Gaza and Lebanon, and halting the ongoing wars, noting that escalatory policies would not achieve the goals of the hostile parties in the region.
He also called for mass demonstrations on Friday, considering it a clear message of defiance to the United States and its new administration, and confirmed Ansar Allah’s readiness to escalate its support for just causes, especially the Palestinian cause.
Al-Houthi’s remarks came in response to media reports suggesting that the Trump administration might take escalatory measures against Ansar Allah in the coming period, including reclassifying the group as a terrorist organization—a move that could have serious humanitarian implications for Yemenis—alongside the possibility of greater U.S. military action against the forces in Sana’a.
