Houthis Issue First Response to Ongoing Sanctions… Will the Red Sea Ignite Again?

NYN | News

Amid escalating tensions, the Political Bureau of Ansar Allah described the recent decision to renew sanctions as a service to the agenda of what it called American aggression and a threat to Yemen’s stability.

In a statement issued today, it said the decision represents continued collective punishment and a tightening of the economic blockade, asserting that this contradicts the United Nations’ claims of seeking peace in Yemen.

The statement added that the decision is a desperate attempt to retaliate against Yemen’s active role in supporting Gaza and confronting the Zionist enemy.

The bureau expressed its rejection of the continued work of the Panel of Experts, saying its recent reports are full of distortions and falsehoods. It warned that the continuation of sanctions is being used as a pretext for military escalation and aggression against Yemen under the claim of protecting international navigation.

The statement affirmed that experience has proven that the United States is working to militarize the Red Sea with the aim of establishing foreign military bases in the region, reiterating Yemen’s firm position alongside the Palestinian people and its support for their just cause.

It also rejected the international decision regarding the “Peace Force” in Gaza, describing it as a revival of the mandates and trusteeship model under American supervision, serving the goals of the Zionist entity that failed to achieve them through excessive force and genocide.

The statement went on to express regret over the participation of some Arab and Islamic countries in adopting the American position biased toward the Zionist entity, affirming the Palestinian people’s right to resist occupation and calling on the Security Council and the international community to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza and the opening of crossings for civilians.
