The United Nations announced that a new group of Somali refugees has departed Yemen, returning to their homeland as part of the voluntary repatriation program implemented by the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
In a statement published today on the platform “X,” the UNHCR explained that 148 Somali refugees safely arrived in Mogadishu on a flight from Aden International Airport, with support from the Swedish government.
The agency added that the returnees will receive additional assistance upon arrival, including reintegration and livelihood support programs.
This is the third return flight in 2025, forming part of efforts to resume the voluntary repatriation program, which restarted in October after two previous operations — one by air and the other by sea.
