U.S. aerial movements have resumed over the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, where surveillance drones of the MQ-4Ctype were observed flying along a route extending from their bases in the UAE, passing through Bab al-Mandab, and reaching the Yemeni coast.
According to satellite images, the drones conducted reconnaissance sorties coinciding with military exercises overseen by the U.S. Central Command, with the participation of forces from several Western and Arab countries under what is known as the Combined Maritime Forces operating in the sea lanes near Yemen.
The nature of the missions carried out by these aircraft remains unclear, amid assessments suggesting that the flights may be linked to monitoring movements in the region or concerns over potential targeting of the ongoing drills.
This activity comes as part of the continuing U.S. military presence in the maritime corridors, despite a marked decline in its influence over the past two years following a series of Yemeni operations that forced Washington to scale back its presence in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
