Amnesty International: Approximately 170 schoolgirls killed in a direct strike in the city of Minab, amid accusations of U.S. responsibility and growing concerns over war crimes against civilians

Amnesty International has revealed, in an extensive investigative report, what it described as a “horrific war crime” involving the targeting of a primary school for girls in the Iranian city of Minab, resulting in the deaths of approximately 170 young girls while they were inside the school.

Conclusive Evidence and Satellite Imagery

The organization explained that a team of international experts and investigators collected multiple pieces of evidence confirming that the attack was carried out directly and deliberately. The investigation relied on the analysis of dozens of satellite images, which demonstrated the precision of the strike and its exact location within the educational facility.

Direct Accusations and Assignment of Responsibility

The report affirmed that the attack bears the hallmarks of “deliberate targeting of civilians,” holding the U.S. military directly responsible for the operation and considering the incident a serious violation of international humanitarian law.

Targeting Civilians as a Pressure Tactic

Amnesty International indicated that such attacks fall within a recurring pattern of targeting civilians—especially children—with the aim of pressuring Iran and its allies and forcing residents to flee urban areas, a practice it described as “contrary to humanitarian values and the laws of war.”

Concerns Over Escalating Violations

According to the report, this incident raises growing concerns about the expansion of violations against civilians in conflict zones, amid increasing international calls for independent investigations and accountability for those responsible for such crimes.
