Is Southern Yemen Preparing for a Major Security Event? A Suspicious Military Aircraft!

NYN |News

The flight of an unidentified military aircraft over the governorates of Aden and Abyan in southern Yemen has raised a wave of questions regarding violations of airspace sovereignty and security, due to the absence of official explanations.

Yemeni journalist Fathi bin Lazraq revealed on his “X” platform page that the aircraft carried out more than 40 aerial loops around the Ahwar area in Abyan, with the GPS system being turned off before entering and after leaving the area, which he described as a well-planned maneuver.

Bin Lazraq attached a map showing the aircraft’s winding flight path marked with a blue line, emphasizing that the movement was not random but aimed at undisclosed purposes.

He confirmed that the military authorities and the Civil Aviation Authority in Aden had no knowledge of the flight, describing the scene as strange, resembling preparations for a movie.

While the Arab Coalition leadership and the internationally recognized Yemeni government have not commented, local activists circulated footage of the aircraft in flight.

Observers believe that the aircraft’s flight could carry several messages. The first is a clear breach of Yemeni sovereignty if the aircraft is foreign and no official coordination took place. It could also be a sign of a secret military maneuver related to regional or international parties seeking to test the area’s airspace or conduct special reconnaissance operations. Additionally, there is a potential security threat, such as the use of the aircraft for espionage or gathering intelligence on sensitive locations, raising broader questions about who actually controls the airspace in southern Yemen and the objectives behind such suspicious movements.
