Israel Returns to War with Lebanon

NYN | News

Israel has resumed its war on Lebanon in coordination with U.S. forces on Thursday, marking a new military escalation that includes intense airstrikes and drone flights deep inside border airspace, amid warnings to evacuate southern areas in preparation for large-scale operations.

The Israeli army spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, announced via his official account a plan to evacuate residents of southern Lebanon, ahead of wide-ranging military operations set to begin from the villages of Taybeh and Tair Diba.

This announcement coincided with the continuation of Israeli air raids, which have been intensifying day by day, most recently targeting the Abbasiyah area within what was described as the fifth wave of “warning strikes.”

In another field development, armed Israeli drones were seen flying deep over northern airspace bordering Syria and Lebanon, in a clear indication of escalating military activity.

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported that the attacks carried out by the Israeli army are being conducted in close coordination with the United States, as part of ongoing military cooperation between the two sides.

Politically, attention now turns to an upcoming government session that may witness mass resignations by ministers from the Amal Movement and Hezbollah, amid heated debate over a new election law proposing to abolish seats allocated to expatriates and limit voting to the 128 parliamentary members.

These developments come amid growing expectations of the collapse of the occupation-backed government, which was formed after the previous war on Lebanon under U.S. sponsorship.
